Exodus Finally Has a Date: The Sci-Fi RPG Will Launch on April 7, 2027
Archetype Entertainment's Gamescom trailer introduced Salt's mech-piloting combat and Emrys' support abilities.

Exodus finally has a firm launch date. Archetype Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast confirmed during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live that the sci-fi RPG will launch on April 7, 2027.
The game will arrive simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The date also narrows the early 2027 window previously attached to the game after its trailer at The Game Awards, which we covered in our early 2027 release coverage. Preorders had not opened when the release date was announced.
Exodus is a single-player, third-person sci-fi RPG built around combat and exploration missions across the universe. Its choice-based systems are shaped by time dilation: faster-than-light travel can push the story decades forward, allowing players to see the long-term consequences of the decisions they make.
The Gamescom trailer also offers a closer look at Salt and Emrys, two of the companions joining protagonist Jun Aslan. You can watch it below.
Salt and Emrys expand Exodus’ companion lineup
Salt is an Awakened, one of humanity’s self-aware animal neighbors with organized societies of their own. Her home is an ocean planet inhabited by an intelligent octopus species, making her an unusual addition to Jun’s crew.
Salt pilots a mech and fills the party’s long-range sniper role. She can fire ink to create smokescreens and disorient enemies while covering Jun as they move through combat zones, giving the unusual companion a clear tactical purpose beyond being the game’s most unexpected crew member.
The trailer presents Salt as a companion with plenty of personality, although her introduction also carries a darker note. Near the end, she searches through what appears to be dried ocean life. It is a small scene, but it gives Jun’s new companion more than a striking design and a few sharp lines.
Emrys also made their debut in the trailer. The character belongs to the Deva, an enigmatic Celestial species made up of many consciousnesses, and supports the party by launching Remnant Orbs. Those orbs drain and weaken enemies before returning the stolen power to Jun as protection.
Each companion brings different strengths and weaknesses, giving players more than one way to approach encounters as Jun’s crew grows.
Archetype has also shared Elegy for a Forgotten World, a track from the RPG’s score that combines ethereal chanting, otherworldly synths, and a dramatic orchestral layer.
Exodus is Archetype Entertainment’s debut title, and the studio has been active since 2019. Its team includes developers with experience at studios including BioWare, Naughty Dog, Halo Studios, and EA. The story follows the Traveller across distant worlds in a space opera shaped by the effects of faster-than-light travel and time dilation.
Exodus will offer wishlist rewards
Archetype has also outlined rewards tied to the game’s wishlist milestones. Reaching 1 million wishlists will unlock a cosmetic outfit for Jun, while the 1.5 million milestone will unlock cosmetic outfits for the companions. The developer detailed those rewards in its wishlist rewards announcement.
PC players can already add Exodus to their wishlist on Steam. The full game remains scheduled to arrive on April 7, 2027.
With the release date now set for April 7, 2027, Exodus has moved from a broad launch window to a specific day. What do you think of its companion lineup and the new release date? Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
