Escape from Tarkov Charges Tarcoins for Early Seasonal Character Resets

Players can earn Tarcoins through the KORD BREACH battle pass or in-game finds, but buying them remains the quickest route to an early reset.

Escape from Tarkov players who want to reset a seasonal character before the normal reset window will need Tarcoins, the game’s new digital currency. That currency can be earned in-game, but players can also buy it with real money, giving the early wipe option a clear pay-to-reset requirement.

The change arrived with the game’s 1.1.0.0 update and its first season, KORD BREACH. Standard PvP and PvE characters no longer reset automatically as part of the game’s seasonal structure. Instead, each season provides a fresh seasonal character, with new seasons expected to arrive every four to six months.

Early Seasonal Resets Require Tarcoins

Players who dislike their chosen modifiers or want to start their seasonal progression again can reset the character before the regular window opens. Doing so costs Tarcoins, which are tied to the Expansion Hub, Battlestate Games’ in-game storefront.

Tarcoins are not limited to direct purchases. Players can earn them through the KORD BREACH battle pass and by finding them in certain high-profile areas across Escape from Tarkov. Still, purchasing the currency is the fastest way to collect enough for a reset, especially for someone who has only just created a seasonal character.

The Expansion Hub also uses Tarcoins for other items and services, including exclusive outfits, stash expansions, and access to the PvE ecosystem for players who do not already have it. That broader storefront role makes the currency useful beyond the seasonal reset system.

There is one free option for players who do not want to spend money. Both PvP and PvE can be wiped for free once every three weeks. However, that schedule does not help players who want to undo their seasonal setup immediately after selecting modifiers.

The new seasonal structure and its progression systems are covered in the Escape from Tarkov 1.1.0.0 patch breakdown, which also details the battle pass and the first KORD BREACH season.
