Arc Raiders is riding a wave of attention, and Embark Studios is reallocating its resources accordingly. The developer has confirmed it will end support for The Finals on PlayStation 4 when Season 10 launches on March 18, 2026, saying it is focusing support on current-generation hardware.
The Finals were initially released in December 2023 and landed on PS4 in December 2024. Embark announced the retirement in a Twitter post that says in part that when Season 10 begins, the studio will retire the PlayStation 4 build and that player progress and purchases will remain tied to the player’s Embark ID and transfer to other platforms.
Players on PS4 will need to move to a supported platform to continue playing after the shutdown date. The decision follows Arc Raiders becoming a breakout hit for Embark, a surge that included the game reaching major concurrent player milestones across platforms during its launch window Arc Raiders hits 700,000 peak concurrent players across all platforms. That momentum appears to be one reason the studio is directing its efforts toward current-generation hardware.
Embark called the PS4 player base “incredibly grateful” and reiterated that progress and purchases would be preserved through the studio account system. Practical considerations also matter. The PS4 turns 12 this year, and supporting aging hardware adds complexity that can slow feature development and optimization for newer consoles and PC builds. For players still on PS4, the window to migrate is now clearly defined by the Season 10 date.
The move will likely prompt conversations about how long studios can sustain support for older consoles as development targets shift. For now, the path is simple for players who want to keep playing, the developer says: move to a current-generation platform and sign in with the same Embark account to keep progress and purchases.
When Season 10 begins (18th of March, 2026), we'll be retiring THE FINALS on PlayStation®4 and focusing our support on current generation hardware.
From that point on you'll need to play there to keep enjoying the game. Your progress and purchases will be stored in your Embark…
