FromSoftware has pushed out a fresh update for Elden Ring on all platforms, version 1.23, also known as patch 1.16.1. This one’s pretty small but important for players dealing with bugs related to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. If you’re on console, look for update 1.23 or 1.017.001. PC users will find a tiny 11 MB download, while console patches come in under 1 GB.
So what’s actually fixed? Well, the official changelog has landed, straight from FromSoftware themselves. Two key issues got some attention:
Patch 1.23 Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where the wrong affinity or status ailments could be applied to some weapons when performing specific actions.
- Fixed a bug where players could bypass being blocked by another player on any platform through unauthorized methods.
Yikes, weapon affinities acting up can throw a wrench in combat, right? And the multiplayer block bypass is something that needed sorting out. This patch was released during server downtime, so expect login issues until about 6 am ET/3 am PT/6 pm HKT.
No new content or expansions came with this update. It’s purely about squashing bugs, so don’t expect any shiny new gear or areas. Still, keeping the game stable is crucial, especially for a sprawling RPG like Elden Ring. The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is still getting support, and the game’s community is as lively as ever.
