EA Sports FC 27 will give FUT players more tradeable rewards, larger post-match Coin payouts, and a less restrictive path into Champions when early access begins this week. EA will also reduce promotional Pack offers at launch, add Holographic Player Items and Streamlined SBCs, revise Chemistry rules, and introduce new seasonal content across the game.
EA detailed the changes in its official FC 27 launch update pitch notes, while the FC 27 launch update on Steam lays out the platform schedule and opening-season roadmap. Most of the changes will arrive alongside the game’s scheduled launch rollout, so players will not have to wait for a later season to see the new FUT reward structure.
FC 27 access begins with the Web App
The Web App will open on September 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. UTC. The Companion App will follow on September 17 at 5:00 p.m. UTC. Ultimate Edition players on Steam and EA Play Pro members will receive access on September 17 at 11:00 p.m. UTC, while the 10-hour EA Play trial will begin on September 18 at 4:00 a.m. UTC.
Ultimate Edition early access on other platforms will begin on September 18 at midnight local time. The worldwide PC launch, including Steam, is scheduled for September 24 at 11:00 p.m. UTC, followed by the worldwide console release on September 25 at midnight local time.

Early access will include Team of the Week 1 and 2, Ones to Watch Player SBCs, Challenge and Upgrade SBCs, Evolutions, Squad Foundations, and several ways to earn Season Points. Season 1, Ones to Watch, is scheduled to run from September 17 through October 22, 2026, with Destined for Glory and Future Stars also forming part of the season’s content.
FUT rewards will have more tradeable value
A larger share of rewards from FUT Objectives, game modes, and other activities will be tradeable at launch. Players will be able to sell eligible rewards on the Transfer Market, use the resulting Coins on specific players or Evolutions, spend them on the Premium Pass, or save them for a later transfer.
Rivals, Champions, and Squad Battles will provide more FUT Coins after matches. FC 26 matches typically awarded around 500 to 600 Coins, while FC 27 Rivals and Champions matches will have the potential to pay several times more. Eligible matches will also grant between 15 and 100 Season Points based on the mode and result, with a daily limit of 850 Season Points.
Division Rivals will add tradeable Pack rewards at launch, more frequent Bounties, and faster Champions Qualification Point progress in higher Divisions. Champions will still use a 15-match Finals format, but the Division 6 requirement has been removed. Qualification Points can come from both Rivals and Squad Battles, meaning a player’s Division will no longer decide whether they can work toward Champions qualification.
Squad Battles will continue to offer a flexible way to complete Objectives and progress Evolutions without facing human opponents. In FC 27, the mode will also grant increased post-match Coins, Season Points, and Champions Qualification Points.
The Store will take a smaller role at launch. EA plans to offer fewer promotional Packs, lower user limits on selected offers, and revised offer designs, leaving matches as a more important route for building a squad.
Champions Tokens return alongside slower item progression
Champions Tokens will return after their introduction during the later stages of FC 26. Players will be able to exchange them in the Champions Token Store for Champions Team of the Week players with the Red Item design, Evolutions, Celebrations, and other themed cosmetics.
Community voting for the first six Team of the Week squads began on September 14 through the FC 27 Ratings Database. Each player can vote for one footballer per week after signing in with an EA Account, change that vote until Monday at 11:59 p.m. PT, and help select an item that will carry a Community Player marker in-game.
Special Player Items will progress at a slower pace across the season. The maximum number of PlayStyles+ on one Item will fall from five to three, Attribute boosts between Campaigns will be smaller, and Campaign Squads will generally contain fewer players. Special Items will launch with all Role++ familiarity unlocked for their primary and secondary positions, while Evolutions will return less often with more specific requirements designed to preserve each player’s strengths.
Campaigns will also become smaller and less frequent. Destined for Glory will be the first Campaign after Early Access, with 15 players in its weekly squad release. FC 27 will have approximately five fewer Campaign weeks overall, with themed Series periods taking their place. The first Series is scheduled for Season 3 in December.
Destined for Glory will arrive on September 25, led by cover star Kylian Mbappé and featuring players including Morgan Rogers, Matheus Fernandes, Alexander Isak, and Bryan Mbeumo.
FC 27 will remove the Common and Rare split for base Bronze, Silver, and Gold Players. Pack names will instead focus on size, including Mini, Small, Large, Jumbo, and Giant, and Packs will no longer state a minimum number of Rare Items. EA says the chance of receiving a base Player Item rated 82 OVR or lower should remain similar to comparable FC 26 Packs.
Holographic Items and Streamlined SBCs change club building
Eligible Campaign, Team of the Week, Hero, ICON, and other Special Items can appear as Holographic versions from Team of the Week 1 onward. Regular Holographic Items will cover players rated 87 OVR and below, while players rated 88 OVR and above can appear as Pristine Holographic Items. Both versions can appear in Store Packs and Reward Packs and can be found on the Transfer Market, but fixed-player Packs and Player Picks will not contain them.
Holographic Items will carry the same in-match Attributes as their standard versions, with their rarity reflected through presentation and Item Score. The launch update builds on the previously detailed FUT Gallery and branching Evolutions, giving rare Items another way to contribute to long-term club progress.
Streamlined SBCs will let players contribute eligible Items toward a target score instead of assembling a full squad around Chemistry, positions, or squad rating. Each Item’s score will be based on its OVR, rarity, and Holographic status, and players can complete the requirement across multiple submissions. Rarity and Holographic bonuses will stack, including for a Holographic Team of the Week player.
Streamlined SBCs will be available on PC and console at launch. EA plans to bring them to the Companion App later in Season 1. Traditional SBCs will remain for more puzzle-focused challenges.
Gallery adds another long-term collection goal
Gallery will provide another reason to keep collecting Player Items. More than 100 Sets are scheduled to be available at launch, and Items recorded in Gallery history will continue counting toward future Sets even after they leave a Club.
Chemistry and Career Mode also receive launch changes
ICONs will receive full Chemistry in their position, a +1 League link to every League, and a reduced Nation contribution of +1. Heroes will have full Chemistry in their position, with a +1 League contribution and their existing +1 Nation contribution. Hall of FUT Items will use the same Chemistry rules as Heroes.
Base ICONs will start at 88 OVR with updated Attributes and PlayStyles. Hall of FUT will be a new Item tier, with base versions available through the Token Store and special Campaign versions planned for Packs later in the year. Eligible base Hall of FUT Items can also be used in Evolutions.
Clubs will continue to use The Grounds as its central hub on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. League matches, Playoffs, Rush, and the first Classic Stadium 11v11 Club Tournament will be available there, with matches contributing to Pro development.
Some came to play. Some came to watch. Some came just to show off their club.

Season 1 will later bring the European Nights event and the Halloween-themed Screaming Grounds to The Grounds. Career Mode will launch with Manager Live Challenges and Creator Challenges, alongside new ICONs, giving players both ready-made scenarios and tools for making their own.
