Dying Light: The Beast has spent its first year in Castor Woods generating some very large numbers. Techland’s first chapter of Dying Light: The Beast Unfolded counts 52 million sessions, 39 million deaths, and 1 billion quest completions in a Steam anniversary announcement.
The biggest totals are not limited to missions. Players eliminated 8.6 billion enemies and activated Beast Mode 345 million times. Co-op accounts for more than 4,000 years of combined playtime, with 1.7 million players participating.
Across those 52 million sessions, the Volatile was the most common cause of death. The global total reached 39 million deaths, giving the anniversary recap one particularly fitting statistic for a game built around surviving the night.
The less grim numbers have their own charm. Players have accumulated 11,000 years of gameplay, while the most-consumed food item is listed as beverage, specifically water or soda. Repair kits are the most-crafted item, flashlights have been recharged more than 6 million times, and pitchforks have killed over 5,000 Volatiles.
Chapter 1 is only the opening page. New chapters will appear in the coming days, and players are asked to return every two days to check for another update. The recap is arriving while Call of the Beast and Crane’s Anniversary Drops are running, after both began on September 21 as part of the game’s first-anniversary event schedule.
