Dune: Awakening is heading to PlayStation 5 on September 22, bringing Funcom’s Arrakis survival game to console with a new single-player mode, PS5-specific tuning, and support for both PS5 and PS5 Pro.
The game has been on PC since last year, and the PS5 release will include the updates Funcom has been building over the past year. That means a more guided early game, a solo path that still keeps the Landsraad endgame moving, and a broader set of settings for players who want to shape the experience.
Funcom has already explained the work behind the solo mode, and that effort is part of what PlayStation gamers will get from day one.
On hardware, Performance Mode will run at 60fps with frame generation on the base PS5. On PS5 Pro, Performance Mode will run at 60fps without frame generation. Quality Mode will run at 30fps on both systems, and the game will use upscaled 4K on PS5 and PS5 Pro in both modes.
Funcom also said players will be able to adjust the game in a number of ways, including faster resource harvesting and the option to disable the sandworm. A physical edition is also coming, with Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe handling Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, Solutions 2 GO covering North and South America, and retail in Japan with a publisher to be announced later. In Japan, the game is expected in October, with pre-orders opening soon.
PlayStation also shared a Developer Deep Dive video on the console version.
