Dune: Awakening’s Filmic Archive DLC Will Arrive September 22, With Cross-Play Confirmed

The $9.99 add-on will include film-inspired armor, outfits, and a 73-piece Sardaukar building set, while Funcom has not dated the cross-play rollout.

Dune: Awakening will receive the Filmic Archive DLC on September 22, bringing outfits and building pieces inspired by Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. Funcom also confirmed that cross-play will arrive after the console launch, though the studio has not announced a release date for the feature. The details were shared in Funcom’s Steam announcement from Gamescom.

Filmic Archive brings Sardaukar style to Arrakis

The DLC will include the Aegis of the Unwalked Path armor, which draws from Paul Atreides’ visions of Fremen holy warriors in Dune: Part One. The Caladan Stormcoat is another featured outfit, based on the clothing worn by Paul and Duke Leto in the first film.

Alongside those pieces, Filmic Archive will add more film-inspired outfits and a 73-piece Sardaukar building set. Players will be able to use the set to give their bases the look of the feared Imperial soldiers.

Filmic Archive will cost $9.99. Its coming soon page will go live on August 27 after the reveal trailer premieres during the XBOX Gamescom broadcast at 4 PM CEST.

Cross-play will follow the console launch

Funcom has now confirmed that players on different platforms will eventually be able to share their stories, alliances, rivalries, and battles for Arrakis. The feature will arrive post-launch, but development is still ongoing and there is no target date to report.

September 22 will also bring the full single-player mode, the dramatic conclusion to the story, expanded customization options, scalable difficulty settings, and the game’s launch on XBOX and PlayStation 5. Our PS5 release plans coverage includes more details about that console rollout.

Funcom also shared a video recap of the updates added during the game’s first year, along with a preview of the content arriving on September 22.

With the console launch, single-player mode, Filmic Archive, and cross-play plans all moving forward, Dune: Awakening has plenty changing around Arrakis. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram for more gaming news.

Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival MMO set on the desert planet Arrakis. Players create a custom character and must manage thirst, maintain stillsuits, and contend with environmental hazards like sandstorms, extreme heat, and roaming sandworms. The game involves scavenging resources, crafting equipment, building shelters, and competing with other players to harvest and transport spice. As players progress, they advance through phases from basic survival to leading a guild, eventually participating in faction warfare between House Atreides and House Harkonnen. The game features both PvE and PvP zones, with a Deep Desert area that reshapes weekly through Coriolis storms.
