donk tears through Dust2 as Spirit crushes 100 Thieves 13-0

Spirit recovered from a Mirage setback to become the eighth and final team qualified for the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals in Malta.

Team Spirit secured the final spot at the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals in Malta after defeating 100 Thieves in a wild three-map series. The decider was anything but close, with Spirit closing Dust2 13-0 behind a career-best 2.84 rating from Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.

Spirit had to work for the result. 100 Thieves led Anubis 10-6 before Spirit turned the map around on the CT side and won 13-11. Mirage then swung completely in the other direction, as William “sirah” Kjærsgaard controlled the A site and helped 100 Thieves build a 10-2 lead before a 13-4 finish.

The loss also ended Spirit’s eight-map winning run on Mirage. That setback only seemed to sharpen the Russian roster for Dust2, where donk immediately took over.

Donk opened the deciding map with a 1v3 clutch and had reached 16-4 by the seventh round. He finished with a career-high 2.84 rating, while Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov also helped Spirit keep 100 Thieves from finding a single round.

The result makes Spirit the only top-10 team to qualify for the LAN finals. The squad has already won the Bounty event twice, so the Malta finals will carry plenty of pressure for a roster that has become accustomed to being viewed as the favorite.

Spirit’s recent form has also been a recurring storyline, including its run through the Budapest Major semifinals, where Spirit reached the semifinals behind strong performances from its young core.

100 Thieves showed promise before the collapse

100 Thieves had opened the series with a strong win over Falcons, and taking Mirage from Spirit was another sign that the new lineup could trouble top opposition. The team also pushed two top-five opponents across four straight maps before running into donk’s Dust2 performance.

Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen’s approach gave 100 Thieves different looks compared with the period when rain was the in-game leader. Spirit’s Boris “magixx” Vorobiev described those ideas as difficult to read, especially when his team was not playing at its best.

That unpredictability helped 100 Thieves build its Mirage lead, but Spirit’s response was ruthless. Donk’s opening clutch set the tone, and the rest of the map quickly became a showcase for Spirit’s firepower.

Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed and published by Valve. Released in September 2023, it is the fifth main entry in the Counter-Strike series and serves as a direct replacement for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam. Two teams, Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists, compete in objective-based rounds across modes such as bomb defusal and hostage rescue. Built on the Source 2 engine, the game introduced volumetric smoke physics, revised weapon handling, and a new sub-tick server architecture. It inherited all cosmetic items from its predecessor and features both a map-specific Competitive mode and a numerically ranked Premier mode.
