Blizzard is teasing major changes for Diablo 4, with previews for the next PTR arriving earlier than usual and promises of updates to loot systems, combat and Renown. In a post on X, community director Adam Fletcher said Blizzard will begin highlighting PTR changes “a bit earlier than normal as there is a lot of big items to cover, including Masterworking/Tempering changes, Combat & Renown updates + more!”

Fletcher’s announcement included a timestamped post on X, dated October 7, 2025, where he reiterated that “this PTR will be important” and encouraged players to check the changes and provide feedback as the team heads into the next season.

In the coming weeks, we will begin highlighting PTR changes coming very soon. A bit earlier than normal as there is a lot of big items to cover including Masterworking/Tempering changes, Combat & Renown updates + more!

Masterworking and Tempering arrived in season 4 as Diablo 4’s crafting twist, but complaints about the system have stuck around. Players say getting desired stats can turn into an expensive roll-fest, and hard-earned items can get effectively bricked by bad RNG. Fletcher stopped short of specifics on exact adjustments. Replies to community questions revealed a few tidbits, including that feedback on the Reliquary system is still being discussed and that more information on possible leaderboards will arrive soon. On reworking gear stats, Fletcher wrote, “a lot will be changing. More details in the next couple weeks.”

Season 11’s PTR does not have a release date yet.
