Just days after the big Destiny 2 patch that launched The Edge of Fate expansion, Bungie is back with a fresh hotfix, patch 9.0.0.2, update on last-gen consoles, and 1.161 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This update tackles some annoying bugs, including a softlock issue in the new campaign that’s been frustrating players.
Honestly, softlocks are the worst, right? You’re deep in the story, and suddenly the game just freezes you out. Yikes. Luckily, this patch aims to fix that problem when switching characters mid-campaign. Plus, there are some other tweaks that might improve your experience in The Portal activities and various gameplay systems.
What’s New in Destiny 2 Update Patch 9.0.0.2?
Activities
Campaign
- Fixed an issue where players switching characters during The Edge of Fate campaign could cause a softlock.
The Portal
- Encore: Scored Engrams reduced from 4 to 3.
- Chance for Bonus Focus and Bonus Drops lowered to 66%.
- Grandmaster difficulty tiers temporarily disabled in all activities due to an issue. They will return in a future update.
Gameplay and Investment
Armor
- Fixed a bug where the Unfaltering Focus Set Bonus and a set bonus from The Desert Perpetual could block other perks from activating.
The Portal
- Bonus Drops from Portal activities now have a chance to be +1 Power when between 300 and 400 Power.
Currencies and Materials
- Fixed an issue where Unstable Cores could be wiped when creating a new character.
Platforms and Systems
- Fixed audio issues on Xbox systems that could lead to crashes.
Bungie may release additional patches for The Edge of Fate this month, particularly if further fixes or balance changes are identified. I’m curious if Grandmaster difficulty will come back soon. It’s kinda a bummer to see it disabled, but better safe than sorry, I guess.
What do you think about these fixes? Did you encounter the soft lock or notice the changes in The Portal?
