If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Deltarune, there’s some news to keep in mind. While Chapter 5 won’t be released this year, it’s officially confirmed for 2026. The good part? The wait won’t be as long as it was between Chapters 3 and 4.
Deltarune, the episodic RPG from Toby Fox, has been rolling out chapters in a somewhat uneven rhythm. Chapters 1 and 2 dropped in 2018 and 2021, respectively, and Chapters 3 and 4 arrived together this June. The game’s menu hints at seven chapters, so there’s still quite a story ahead.
According to the credits at the end of Chapter 4, Chapter 5 is set for release in 2026 (via IGN). Unfortunately, no specific month or quarter is mentioned, so it could be anytime within that year. At least the wait won’t stretch over multiple years this time around, which is a relief.
Chapters 1 and 2 are free to play for those curious about the game’s structure, while Chapters 3 and 4 require purchase. Toby Fox has also confirmed that future chapters will be added as free updates, so once you’ve paid, the rest comes at no extra cost.
The game’s description sums it up nicely: “Go into the parallel story to UNDERTALE! Fight or spare your way through action-packed battles as you look at a mysterious world alongside an endearing cast of new and familiar characters. Chapters 1-4 will be available on launch, with more planned as free updates!”
It’s interesting to see how the release cadence is changing. Yikes, waiting years between chapters was tough for fans. Do you think 2026 will feel like a long wait? I’m kinda relieved it’s sooner than last time, but the mystery of the exact date keeps us guessing.
Feel free to share your thoughts below. Are you excited to continue the story in Deltarune? What do you hope to see in the next chapters? I am Margarita. I love you all, and have a great day!
