Bohemia Interactive has opened DayZ‘s 1.29 Road to Badlands experimental build, giving players an early look at a slice of DayZ Badlands before the larger 1.30 update arrives.
The studio described Road to Badlands as an addition to 1.29 rather than the expansion’s main version, which is why 1.30 has already been reserved for DayZ Badlands and its matching base-game update. It also said the experimental period should run for 2-4 weeks before the build reaches stable across all platforms.
Convoy crashes are getting a new look too. Bohemia Interactive replaced every convoy asset with wrecks from Nasdara, and those events will still appear in the same dynamic locations with roughly the same tiering. Sakhal will not get those convoy spawns, since it does not have a land equivalent for them, and it will instead receive its own loot pool.

The headline addition is the SCR-17, a .308 rifle with a 20-round magazine, two buttstock options, western optic support, and new non-magnifying Holo Sights that also work on other western firearms. The rifle comes in tan and black variants, with the black version reserved for Sakhal.
Bohemia Interactive also added a tanker helmet and military cap with color variants, plus a combat backpack and plate carrier vest dressed in desert camo. A few more assets are being held back for players to find on their own.
For more on Nasdara’s layout, this earlier look at the map shows why the update leans on long sightlines, rooftops, and tighter interior fights.
The update also targets a few long-running problems, including firearm zeroing on Xbox K&M servers, stamina not returning after weighted items are dropped, and stashes failing to dig up beside player-built walls. The full list of fixes is available in the experimental update changelog, and players can send reports through the new feedback tracker.
