Crimson Desert’s First DLC Gets a Charting the Unknown Reveal Trailer

Charting the Unknown adds ship travel, underwater discoveries, expanded housing, and new stories for $24.99/£19.99 when it launches on October 15, 2026.

Crimson Desert has introduced its first story DLC with a reveal trailer for Charting the Unknown, giving Pearl Abyss’s open-world RPG its next named post-launch project. The expansion launches on October 15, 2026, for $24.99/£19.99.

Pearl Abyss previously described the add-on as a new gameplay experience planned for release before the end of 2026. The trailer now gives players a much clearer look at the unusual mix of activities coming to Pywel, as well as the places beyond its familiar coastlines.

The announcement follows a recent change in the game’s support plans. Resources are moving away from regular free updates and toward the first major paid DLC, a transition covered in Pearl Abyss’s slower support phase.

Charting the Unknown is separate from Crimson Desert Enhanced. The Enhanced package includes the 2.0 update and gathers broader improvements made since launch, while the newly named DLC represents the next major paid content project.

The September 3 State of Play trailer puts castle building at the center of the expansion. Kliff can work on a large stone fortress, placing walls and rooms with a construction tool before furnishing the interior. A village grows around the stronghold as well, with stalls, cooking, and conversations taking place both inside the castle and beyond its walls.

Ships and underwater discoveries

Kliff will also be able to command his own ship and open new routes across the ocean. Those routes lead to new islands with underwater discoveries, sunken ruins, hidden treasures, and threats both above and below the surface.

New enemies and battles will appear across land and sea, giving encounters throughout the expansion different tactical demands. The trailer also features a traditional ship, a more steampunk-looking vessel, and other signs that ocean travel will be more than a short diversion from Pywel’s usual exploration.

Charting the Unknown will expand the housing system with more customization options. Players will be able to rent and manage different facilities, giving their homes and the growing village a larger role beyond decoration.

Several new story threads will run through Pywel, including an ominous presence in the desert, a dangerous political conflict, a journey beyond time, and an ancient secret beneath the waves. Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane will each follow their own paths as they search for purpose and face what comes next.

Kliff also appears to have more opportunities to connect with the people around him. In one brief scene, he offers flowers to one of the game’s witches, who appears pleased by the gesture. The trailer does not confirm whether this leads to romance, but it does suggest that the DLC will expand the character’s personal interactions alongside its building and exploration systems.

Life at the castle is only one part of the new content. Kliff can run across water and move underwater, including a moment where he grabs onto a shark and lets it pull him along. Andrew prepares food in the castle, while a mechanical cyclops with laser eyes adds another strange threat to the expansion’s growing collection of surprises.

For now, Charting the Unknown represents a significant shift from Crimson Desert‘s usual battles and exploration. Castle design, village life, ship travel, underwater discoveries, and new story threads give the first DLC a broad new identity, although Pearl Abyss has not explained how every system will work in the finished expansion.
