Chandler Riggs’ Resident Evil 7 Fan Film Will Arrive October 14
Riggs wrote and directed the roughly 20-minute short, starring as Ethan Winters opposite Jason Douglas as Jack Baker.

Chandler Riggs’ fan film Biohazard, based on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, is scheduled to arrive online on October 14. The roughly 20-minute short follows Riggs as Ethan Winters, whose search for his missing wife leads him to the infected Baker family. Riggs wrote and directed the film as well as playing Ethan.
The game keeps Ethan largely out of view through its first-person perspective, while the film gives him a visible face and a third-person presence. Jason Douglas plays Jack Baker. Douglas also appeared as Tobin in 28 episodes of The Walking Dead, the series that introduced Riggs to many viewers. Mary Rachel Quinn, Eugenie Bondurant, Johnathan O’Neil, and Sam Coyles also star.
The first trailer shows Ethan pleading with a police officer for help escaping the Bakers, then ends with one of the family members crawling across the floor.
The production relies on practical sets and effects, with limited visual effects, to evoke the game’s horror. Riggs said the team was already in pre-production when news of Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil film surfaced. They had hoped to finish the fan film about a month earlier, but the schedule did not come together. Cregger’s film has since opened to more than $100 million worldwide in its first weekend.
Riggs has not seen Cregger’s movie, but said in an IGN interview that he would welcome the chance to work with the director if he continues the series. “Listen, my phone is open. Hit my line!”
