Boston becomes a ticketed Pokémon GO route on September 26 and 27, 2026, when City Safari spreads special spawns, research, and rewards across the city. Niantic’s official Boston event guide also lays out nine themed zones and a temporary Trainer Lounge at Copley Square, giving players more structure for a weekend built around moving through Boston.
Tickets cost US$10.00 plus applicable taxes and fees, and Niantic is selling them through its event ticketing page. Trainers can choose a single day or add a second day. Event play runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on the ticketed date. Tickets are non-refundable, first come, first served, and event-exclusive gameplay is only available in Boston on the date and at the location shown on the ticket.
Players without tickets can still attend the in-person live activities, but they will not receive the ticketed gameplay content. Child accounts require a parent or guardian to purchase a ticket for themselves and each attending child. The email connected to the parent or guardian’s Pokémon GO account must match the email on file with Niantic Kids or Pokémon Trainer Club.
Nine zones and a citywide route
Trainers can begin anywhere in Boston. The nine areas below will feature City Safari-themed PokéStops and Gyms, creating several possible routes through the city and giving players marked locations to visit during the GO Stamp Rally.

What to expect at Copley Square
A City Trainer Lounge Pop-up is planned for Copley Square at 560 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02116, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on both event days. It will provide a place to take a break and recharge between citywide activities.
Giveaways will be limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Trainers must show that they checked in to the Campfire meetup to collect one. The lounge remains subject to pending license approvals from the City of Boston.
City Safari encounters and bonuses
Boston ticket holders will get boosted Shiny odds, Lure Modules that last four hours, up to five special trades per day anywhere in the city, 50% less Stardust for trades, an extended eight-hour Party Play window, and a Tiny Compass souvenir from their buddy.
Mudbray will be the featured City Safari-exclusive encounter. The wild pool also includes Jigglypuff, Abra, Totodile, Unown, Marill, Mareep, Hoppip, Stantler, Miltank, Wingull, Baltoy, Buizel, Lillipup, Petilil, Yamask, Gothita, Binacle, Clauncher, Hawlucha, Oranguru, Komala, Orange Flabébé, and Flamigo.
Stamp Rally and special research
City Safari is using the GO Stamp Rally format in Boston, replacing the older timed research setup. Players can collect up to eight stamps at designated PokéStops and earn an encounter with Eevee wearing an explorer hat for each one. Every encounter has a chance to be Shiny. The rally can be completed once per day during event hours.
The Eevee Explorers Special Research also features an explorer-hat Eevee, and the event’s evolved forms keep that hat when they evolve. The bonus pool extends beyond research too, with 7km Eggs hatching Hawlucha, Mudbray, Orange Flabébé, and Komala during the event.
Optional add-ons
Niantic is selling three add-ons for players who want more out of the weekend. The Raid Lover add-on costs US$6.00 and gives up to 12 free Raid Passes per day, plus extra XP and extra Candy from raid catches. The Egg-enthusiast add-on also costs US$6.00 and cuts Egg hatch distance in half while boosting Hatch Stardust, Hatch XP, and Hatch Candy. The Citywide Gameplay Extra Day Add-On costs US$8.00 and opens up the citywide bonuses for the other day of the weekend as well.
A Pokémon GO night with the Boston Red Sox
Trainers arriving early can attend a Pokémon GO-themed Boston Red Sox game on Friday, September 25. The Red Sox event page says attendees will be able to spin a PokéStop in the ballpark for an in-game avatar item, visit an Official Route, and take part in Raid Battles with a chance to encounter Pikachu with a Location Background.
City Safari is planned to run through ordinary weather conditions, although extreme weather or a natural disaster could lead to a suspension. Checking the forecast and wearing suitable clothing will be useful for a weekend spent moving between several Boston neighborhoods.
