Borderlands: Dead ECHOs Episode 10, Part 1 Sets Up a Showdown Before the Finale

The penultimate chapter sends Junie and Watts looking for allies and calling in favors as danger closes in.

Junie and Watts are out of easy options. Borderlands: Dead ECHOs Episode 10, Part 1 is the penultimate chapter of Gearbox’s scripted narrative podcast, and the pair is heading toward a showdown after danger closes in around their ECHO-brokering operation.

Gearbox’s Steam announcement puts the focus on a desperate attempt to gather allies and call in favors. Junie and Watts may not have a clear answer to the trouble surrounding them, but they are moving ahead anyway as the story prepares for its next major confrontation.

Episode 10 follows Episode 9’s return to the Jakobs Estate, where Junie reconnected with two relatives on Eden-6 while Watts struggled to keep his emotions under control. The new chapter turns attention from that family tension toward the wider danger surrounding their partnership.

Dead ECHOs follows Watts, a disenchanted DAHL ECHO Operator who sells secrets from undeliverable ECHO logs, and Junie, the stranger who pulled him into a Robin Hood-style scheme. Their work has drawn mercenaries, outlaws, and DAHL’s corporate hit squad, led by rogue executive Vivian Proctor. Episode 10 now brings that pressure into the series’ penultimate chapter.

Gearbox keeps the series’ dark comedy close to the danger, using Claptrap for a joke about calculating millions of possible futures before turning toward the coming conflict. Junie and Watts will need every favor they can call in if they are going to face what comes next.

The episode can be heard on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, and Pandora. A YouTube version is available as well.
