Blizzard adjusted WoW Legion Remix after PTR testers found its weekly, time gated progression too restrictive. Changes made during follow-up PTR sessions removed many stat and gear limits so players can reach high power levels earlier, ahead of the event’s October 8 opening.
Mists of Pandaria Remix had some hiccups early on that Blizzard fixed quickly, letting players enjoy the mode for its run. When the Legion Remix PTR went live, many players discovered that the systems that let characters become extremely powerful were locked behind weekly unlocks instead of being available from the start.
Those weekly gates meant progress that once allowed solo raids and broad experimentation would take much longer. Blizzard posted a response promising to make the mode faster and more powerful, and the following PTR build included a list of changes that removed a large portion of the earlier gear and stat restrictions.
Community voices picked up on the update. Reddit user Mantid9 wrote that while the mode is not quite at Mists of Pandaria Remix power levels, the PTR changes make it much easier to reach very high strength in earlier phases.

Some players remain unhappy that new dungeons and events are still paced across weekly phases. One reason for staggered content is likely to keep groups roughly aligned as more challenging content arrives, though critics argue it can feel like an artificial delay.
Legion Remix will be open to anyone with a World of Warcraft subscription or a free trial account, allowing players to create a character whose cosmetics and non-overpowered rewards can be transferred back to the main game when the event ends. Blizzard detailed several of the adjustments in a blog post, including a new “Heroic World Tier” that increases open-world difficulty and rewards.
