Battlefield 6’s May anticheat numbers dipped, then climbed back by month’s end

EA said Javelin stopped 218,695 cheat or tamper attempts in May, while full TPM 2.0 enforcement is coming for about 1.24% of active accounts.

EA published Battlefield 6‘s May anticheat metrics update on July 2, and the month’s numbers showed a familiar pattern for the shooter’s ongoing fight against cheaters. May closed out Season 2, opened Season 3, and brought ranked play with it.

Match Infection Rate, or MIR, started May at 4.81%, climbed to a peak of 5.61% on May 11, then fell to 3.14% on May 19 after new detections were switched on alongside ranked play on May 12. By the end of the month, MIR had moved back up to 5.09%.

EA said it had held back several new anticheat features so they could go live with Season 3, then watched cheat makers respond by shifting toward spoofing or emulating TPM 2.0 compliance. The studio also said it had previously allowed some of those workarounds because of motherboard-related implementation issues for legitimate players, but those known problems have now been fixed.

That change matters because EA now plans to enforce full TPM 2.0 compliance. The studio said the move will affect about 1.24% of currently active accounts, and it believes most of those accounts are using the workaround to bypass anticheat checks. Players who still need BIOS updates will get warning pop-ups and written guidance before the enforcement switch flips, though EA has not given a firm date yet and said it would be soon.

Through May, EA Javelin Anti-Cheat blocked 218,695 attempts to cheat or tamper with the game before they could affect matches. EA also said it is tracking 110 active cheat-related programs, hardware solutions, vendors, resellers, and associated communities, and that 101 of them are now dealing with detection notices, feature failures, downtime, or full shutdowns. That follows an earlier Javelin anticheat report that put the running total at 2.39 million blocked attempts since launch.

EA also pointed readers back to its January update for a deeper look at how it interprets MIR swings, and to its Season 3 update for the features that were waiting in the wings until ranked play arrived.
