Battlefield 6 is teasing a fresh battle royale experience, and some juicy details just surfaced thanks to dataminers digging into the game files. If you’ve been curious about what the new mode will bring, you might want to stick around because there’s a lot to unpack, from its storyline to some cool gameplay mechanics like the Oversight System.
In February 2024, it was revealed that Ripple Effect is working on a free-to-play battle royale for Battlefield 6. The game will feature two distinct modes: a classic battle royale and a mode called Gauntlet. Gauntlet sounds intense. Teams complete objectives, and the lowest-scoring squad is eliminated after each mission.
The files confirmed traditional battle royale staples like solo, duo, trio, and squad matches, an armor system, call-ins, loot rarity tiers, update kits, weapons, and a shrinking zone. Plus, Gauntlet was confirmed to be part of the package.
Dataminer Temporyal revealed that the new Battle Royale is a remaster of Operation Firestorm, the original Battlefield V battle royale map. The location is set in Turkmenistan and ties into the main story involving NATO and Pax Armata conflicts.

The storyline sounds pretty gripping: “After an explosive disaster exposes a classified military R&D facility to attack by multiple unidentified PMC groups, the Handler deploys an elite squad to secure the site before its secrets can fall into the wrong hands.” This adds a nice narrative layer to the usual battle royale chaos.
One standout feature is Priority Missions. Teams can complete objectives, but other squads can interrupt and steal rewards. These rewards include vehicle access keycards for powerful combat vehicles or custom weapon drops. Like in Warzone, there are Field Upgrades that boost your character’s traits. Plus, you get one respawn early in the match and a respawn tower similar to Fortnite’s, allowing you to bring teammates back into the fight.
The Oversight System is a fresh twist. Even after being eliminated, you can stay involved by controlling remote cameras, drones, and turrets to spot enemies and cause havoc from beyond the grave. It’s a clever way to keep players engaged instead of waiting around. All these features suggest that Battlefield 6’s battle royale might offer a mix of classic and new mechanics that could disrupt the genre. I’m curious how the Gauntlet mode will play out in practice; it sounds like it could add some real tension and strategy.
