Battlefield 6 Update 1.4.3.1 Will Keep Proximity Chat Offline Through the Weekend

The team says REDSEC matchmaking has stabilized, while attachment, HUD, sniper rifle, and Interdictor issues remain under investigation.

Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat will remain disabled through the weekend as the team continues investigating problems with the feature. The September 18 status update also says REDSEC matchmaking has stabilized since Update 1.4.3.1, although it remains a top monitoring priority. The feature was first taken offline after Update 1.4.3.0 introduced it to REDSEC, while the initial 1.4.3.0 status update documented the earlier attachment, matchmaking, minimap, and notification investigations.

In a September 18 Steam status update, the Battlefield team provided another look at the issues still affecting players and the fixes already in progress.

The issues still affecting Battlefield 6 players

Missing weapon attachments are confined to the Firing Range, according to the investigation. The problem does not affect live Multiplayer or REDSEC matches, and work on a resolution is continuing.

Out-of-bounds warnings in areas that previously appeared safe are also intentional. Vehicle spawn protection now prevents players from blocking or camping active vehicle spawns, so entering one of those zones can trigger the warning even when the surrounding map looks accessible. The team is discussing ways to make the system clearer.

REDSEC has two HUD issues still being investigated. Damage numbers above 100 can display incorrectly even though the backend is calculating the full damage dealt, while players wearing armor may not receive the expected incoming-damage and directional indicators when shot.

A server-side backend change has been deployed for delayed HUD notifications, which should now appear instantly again. The team has also identified the underlying cause of the missing Zeroing indicator on sniper rifles, but that fix requires a client update.

Gauntlet players can also encounter an Interdictor that deals more damage than intended. The weapon will receive another adjustment to bring its damage back within the range introduced by the 1.4.3.0 Interdictor changes.

Proximity Chat will return only after the related investigation reaches a point where the team can re-enable it. Until then, players will need to use the other available voice communication options in REDSEC.
