Battlefield 6 is closing out Season 3 with a community update that points to new gameplay tuning, fresh modes, and a batch of quality-of-life changes on June 30. The same update also lays out new REDSEC additions and Portal content, with some pieces arriving earlier on June 20.
A recent Battlefield RedSec update already trimmed challenge requirements and changed reroll behavior, and this next phase keeps the live-service cadence moving.
Gameplay changes
The biggest combat changes are aimed at gunplay. The team said it will tighten recoil behavior, dispersion, weapon handling, limb-modifier tuning, bullet velocity, and drag so infantry fights feel more consistent and easier to read. Soldier visibility work and netcode updates are also part of the plan, with a deeper breakdown promised later.
Vehicles are getting attention too. Thermal Smoke will be less effective at soaking incoming damage and will no longer remove C4 when activated. RPG damage will also tick up slightly against tanks and helicopters. The studio said more tuning is coming for IFV weapons, Attack Helicopter rockets, Mobile Anti-Air ammo, and other vehicle systems. The AA Station is also changing so it shoots down fewer projectile types, no longer retaliates for damage dealt to land vehicles, and stops its retaliation behavior after 20 seconds.
On the front end, Battlefield 6 will add a Mark All Seen button to Loadouts, Battle Pass, Store, Profile, Challenges, and Play. A new Event Menu is also coming with Wet Work so event challenges, rewards, modes, and bundles sit in one place. XP Boosters will now carry a partial Match Bonus XP multiplier if they expire before the end of a round, based on how long they were active during the match.
New content
Tactical Obliteration is the headline addition on the mode side. It takes the objective-driven flow of Obliteration and trims it into a tighter infantry-focused format with no vehicles. Teams will need to destroy two of the enemy’s three M-COMs to win, and matches will be shorter with more room for flanks, traps, and squad play. The mode will be available on Cairo Bazaar, Iberian Offensive, Empire State, and Siege of Cairo at launch.

Wet Work will arrive with Season 3’s High-Value Target Update and brings a contract-focused setup to Multiplayer and REDSEC. Players will pick up contracts from eliminated enemies and work through mid-match objectives that range from eliminations and loot runs to objective captures and survival tasks.
REDSEC
REDSEC is getting a more casual Battle Royale option that adds bots to help smooth out match flow and lower the pressure for players who want a less punishing playlist. The team said it will keep tuning bot behavior over time so the mode stays player-driven.
The update also changes chest handling in Battle Royale. When Second Chance is disabled globally in a match, normal Armory Crates, Class Armory Crates, and Tactical Armory Crates will reset and become lootable again. A new Recon Training Path called Disruptor is joining BR as well, bringing the Hardware Suppression System and the Handheld Jammer into the mode for the first time. The Hardware Suppression System can shield a squad from nearby electronic and explosive gadgets, while one of its Field Upgrades can also shoot down enemy UAV call-ins. The Handheld Jammer gives Recon a close-range disruption tool that can temporarily interfere with enemy equipment.
The Headhunter mission remains disabled in all Battle Royale modes for now. In Solos, the Traverser Mark 2 was removed while the team reviews its impact on balance. Ranked Battle Royale is also on a clock, with the current season ending on July 14, one week before Season 3 closes. End-of-season rank will help determine the starting rank for Season 4, and the rewards tied to this season will be detailed later.
Portal
Portal is getting a busy stretch of its own. Players will be able to create custom Cairo Bazaar experiences, and the smaller map will lean into infantry combat with limited ground vehicles. The classic Obliteration mode will enter Verified Portal on June 20, along with Tactical Obliteration, Squad Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch.

The update also adds MovingPlatform, which is designed to make moving physics bodies behave more smoothly, and Vehicle impulse functions for creators working in Blockly or TypeScript. Battlefield 6 will also bring Bellum1988’s custom Operation Metro map into the Portal SDK and map rotation, built from Empire State (Aftermath) assets with baked lighting.
Together, the changes give the final phase of Season 3 a little bit of everything, from combat tuning to new modes and creator tools. If you have thoughts on where Battlefield 6 should go next, share them in the comments and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
