It Appears That Forza Motorsport 7 Intentionally Maxes Only One CPU Core

Turn10 has confirmed that Forza Motorsport 7 will max out only one CPU intentionally, thus automatically close any room for further improvements? It is quite uncommon to use only one CPU core and might hurt future optimization, but it seems like Turn10 are quite comfortable with what they’ve offered until now.

This was noted throughout Forza Motorsport 7’s Demo, where the tech-savvy gamers were able to see that Forza Motorsport 7 is maxing out only 1 CPU core on purpose. As a reference and further qualify to what the title says, Turn10’s Evan Bolin hasn’t been dismissing this issue. Instead, he seems to be encouraging it.

According to DSOGaming, Evan has claimed the following:

Some users may notice that the game utilizes nearly 100% of one of their processor cores. This is expected behavior; we intentionally run in this manner so we can react as fast as possible in order to minimize input latency. Users on power-constrained devices, such as laptops and tablets, might want to use a Performance Target of “30 FPS (V-SYNC),” which will reduce processor usage and minimize power consumption.

Stuttering while playing, including the many stutters in the menus, is something that’s not easy to avoid, at least not in Forza Motorsport 7. The problem is not that big for the players as for Turn10. You should’ve never allowed this to happen in first place. Multi-threading CPU Scaling in this ERA is a must. Therefore, I cannot see fans being comfortable by playing Forza Motorsport 7. It is better for Turn10 to deal with this situation and make Multi-Threading possible.
