Apex Legends is heading into the second half of Overclocked Split 2 with a wide 29.1 balance pass that touches Legends, weapons, and hop-ups. The full patch notes will arrive on June 22, 2026.
The midseason designer’s notes focused on what the team wants the meta to look like after the update lands. Axle stays the main target, but Ballistic, Pathfinder, Seer, Mad Maggie, Valkyrie, Conduit, and shotguns are all part of the same pass.
Axle, Ballistic, Pathfinder, and Seer are getting the largest changes
Axle’s most talked-about tools are changing in two ways. Her Level 2 Super Slider upgrade is being replaced with a new pick that lowers Tactical cooldown and restores her Nitro Gate cap to three, while Kickstart will stop launching players straight upward and instead throw them in an arc that carries some of their movement at the moment of impact.
The Axle chart uses Ranked and Trios data from May 27 through June 2, 2026.
The team said it waited for several weeks of match data because Axle had a temporary two-week unlock period at launch, which made early numbers harder to read. After a small mid-split Tactical nerf, 29.1 will make a more direct pass.
Ballistic is getting a broader refresh. Sling will respawn with him in every mode. Overheat will now affect only the weapon you have out, or the first slot if you are unarmed, so the second weapon can still be used. He will start with two Tactical charges, overheat damage goes back to 50, projectile homing starts sooner, and the debuff lasts 15 seconds. His Ultimate is also switching from a full speed boost to a sprint boost. Several upgrades are changing too, including Extra Bullet, Trap Mode, Quiet Time, and Killing Time.
Pathfinder is getting two Tactical charges and a flat 20-second cooldown. His zipline Ultimate will deploy faster and come back sooner, and his upgrade path is changing as well. Field Research will grant the full Recon perk set, Ringmaster will grant the full Controller perk set, and Grapple God is being replaced by Landing Gear.
Seer’s changes are smaller, but they touch every part of his kit. His heartbeat sensor will activate faster and pulse more often, his Tactical will hit sooner and slow harder, and his Ultimate will scan the zone when it appears and again when new enemies enter it. Cloaked enemies inside the zone will also leave tracked footsteps.
Mad Maggie, Valkyrie, and Conduit are also in the mix
Mad Maggie’s Tactical cooldown is going up, and her Ultimate will now give a sprint boost instead of a full movement buff. Valkyrie is losing the faster landing recovery she received in a previous buff, after players used the quick recovery to scan from the air and drop on teams before they could react.
Conduit is getting another round of nerfs after her Season 29 changes pushed her to the top of the pick rates. Her Tactical cooldown is going up, and Enduring Barrier will no longer regenerate through ring damage. The earlier hotfix already stretched her shield regeneration timing, and 29.1 keeps dialing back how often she can keep a squad topped off.
On the weapon side, shotguns are getting a new hop-up called Executioner. It will go on the Peacekeeper and the Mastiff, replacing Disruptor Rounds and Dual Shell, and it will restore shield after a knock. The Mozambique and EVA-8 are also getting small handling buffs, while Graffiti Mod moves to the Volt and Flatline.
The notes close with a regional wrinkle. The Alternator’s climb is being driven heavily by players in Japan, even though balance talk in the West has centered more on the R-99. The team said it will keep watching those differences as the season continues.
If these changes land the way the team wants, the midseason meta should feel a lot different by the time players settle in. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
