A 58% Steam player overlap connects The Blood of Dawnwalker with The Witcher 3, giving Rebel Wolves’ debut RPG a clear connection to CD Projekt Red’s fantasy series beyond the developers who worked on both games.
In Alinea Analytics’ analysis, analyst Rhys Elliott identified The Witcher 3 as the premium game with the largest crossover into The Blood of Dawnwalker. About 58% of Dawnwalker’s Steam players had also played CD Projekt Red’s 2015 RPG, putting the shared audience into unusually clear numbers.
The connection is easy to understand in context. The Blood of Dawnwalker was created by Rebel Wolves and directed by former The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. Both games draw on grim fantasy, branching storytelling, and role-playing systems, while Dawnwalker adds a 30-day deadline and a time-as-a-resource mechanic that ties major actions to the campaign’s day-night cycle.
The crossover figure arrived shortly after launch. The game released on PC on September 2, 2026, followed by its console release on September 3, and Rebel Wolves announced more than 1 million copies sold worldwide within three days.
A 58% overlap does not mean every player came to Dawnwalker for the same reason, but it does show how closely the new RPG’s audience is connected to The Witcher 3. For now, Elliott’s figure is a snapshot of the game’s early Steam audience, with more player data needed to show whether that crossover holds over time.
