Sony is expected to reveal the free games for PlayStation Plus Essential (as well as Extra and Premium) subscribers in September 2023. Renowned leaker Billbil-kun has hinted that the list may include Saints Row.
Released in 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC, the reboot of the Saints Row series has received mixed reactions. Fans feel it lacks the original games’ magic, though Volition has released several updates and a new DLC called “A Song of Dust and Ice.”

With the game possibly coming to PS Plus Essential, subscribers could access it for free. This could breathe new life into the game and its player base. Volition may also take this opportunity to roll out new updates to capitalize on the increased exposure.
The game has had several DLCs, most recently featuring new story quests, weapons, and vehicles. A recent Steam release saw it garnering a “Mixed” score, suggesting room for improvement.
Sony’s official announcement regarding September’s PS Plus lineup is expected on August 30, 2023. Whether Saints Row will be a part of it remains unconfirmed.
