Sony has rolled out its beta testing for cloud-streaming PS5 games to a select group of users. According to posts and discussions on ResetEra, this development seems to be a promising leap.
The beta testing phase is not limited to all and sundry. Sony has randomly chosen certain PSN users for this exclusive experience. Those who cut can stream certain games directly from the cloud to their PS5 console. Once this feature becomes publicly available, it will be incorporated into the PlayStation Plus Premium package.
Not just any games, though. The collection of games to support this new feature is quite impressive. It includes PS5 games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue and Game Trials, in addition to the supported digital PS5 titles that the players own.
Now, let’s talk about the resolutions. One of this feature’s most noteworthy aspects is its broad spectrum of resolutions: 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. This is a significant edge over its competitor, the Xbox Cloud Streaming, which is yet to roll out a 4K streaming option.
One user who was fortunate enough to be part of this beta testing phase shared their firsthand experience on ResetEra. They posted: “Got my email and invite, it gives access to the new firmware beta if you weren’t already in it, but seems like it is going out to Premium members. Just tested Ragnarok at 2160p quality and had no issues so far. You set the max resolution from the activity card: 720p, 1080, 1440p, 2160p. Games seem to load your cloud saves directly.”
