New World’s latest update, which allowed server transfer got things quite stormy. The code behind the world transfer has been faulty and allowed players to get in a Character_Persist_Failure state, which allowed them to send money to whoever they like without losing their own.
How does this glitch work? The transferred character that gets the error can send gold to recipients without that error, and upon reloading the game, the gold will return in their inventory as before mailing. However, the deposit to the recipient will remain vital.
This is considered the most hellish exploit an MMORPG of this caliber could ever have, and the developers are already aware of it. Amazon Games have revealed their intentions on the official forums and stated they would be pretty rigorous to anyone intentionally using this exploit.
Thanks for the reports, this has been forwarded to the dev-team for investigation.
PS: Note, that anyone who is exchanging gold/items like this, appropriate action will be taken as it is an exploit.
But how would they address this precisely? I don’t believe the developer would sit there and tail every user that has taken advantage of this exploit, which technically speaking, falls in the hands of Amazon Games as a faulty developed feature. So, a mass database rollback has to occur, which is not something you would like to see, and could impact the gold earnings of every other player too.
Currently, Amazon Games is probably working on a solution that would not be bitter for those who did not take advantage of this exploit. But, if I could only post the global chat here, everyone is asking for gold, which is mind-blowing how they are going to track this and get rid of the malicious actors. It’s a double-edged knife indeed.
