11 Bit Studios calls out for help after their game Frostpunk 2 was listed on reseller platforms such as Kinguin. Frostpunk 2 was added to Steam’s repository just a week ago, but the game is still without an official release date. Price is unknown too, which makes the developer furious regarding the recent Frostpunk 2 listing on Kinguin.
Earlier today, August 19, 2021, the developer 11 Bit Studios posted on Twitter an announcement regarding the recent troublesome incidents. Kinguin, a known reseller that usually sells game keys for a lower price than the original, has posted Frostpunk 2 in its repository and listed it as available to pre-order. Frostpunk 2’s pre-order price on Kinguin was $37, which caught 11 Bit Studios’ attention, knowing that the developer itself hasn’t generated any codes for sale.
ANNOUNCEMENT!
We don't know the price of our game yet, we don't have any keys. Some SHITTY SCAMMER sells Frostpunk 2 on pre-order under umbrella of another CROOK Kinguin?!
Re-tweet & let's make some noise to stop it. Media folks?@gameinformer @pcgamer @eurogamer @gamestar_de pic.twitter.com/sx7uX6sciq— Frostpunk 2 (@frostpunkgame) August 19, 2021
At the time of this writing, the game product is out of stock, which could be a response by Kinguin to the recent developer outcry. It’s unpleasant to see your own game listed on third-party resellers without proper compliance. Frostpunk 2 was just recently revealed by the developer, but it’s still missing an official release date and price.
In response to this accusation, Kinguin’s CEO and CFO Brandon Doerfler stated the following:
“We know there is much excitement surrounding the upcoming release of Frostpunk 2 and want to connect fans with merchants who are offering the key. We apologize for the inclusion of unconfirmed information that appeared in the listing on Kinguin.net in regard to Frostpunk 2. We have since removed this and made it clear to anyone visiting our site that the game is available for preorder only.” – Brandon Doerfler, acting CEO and CFO at Kinguin.
Frostpunk 2 is the sequel to the highly acclaimed BAFTA-nominated society survival game. The age of steam has passed, and now, oil leads the way as humanity’s newest salvation. However, with new threats on the horizon, the future of the city looks even grimmer than before.
