Sony’s next-gen console, the PlayStation 5, has sold out worldwide. Based on the same TASS article, which conducted an interview with PlayStation’s Jim Ryan, the PlayStation 5 units have been “absolutely sold out.” In the article, Jim Ryan himself sends a message that everything is sold.
Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold. And everything will be sold in Russia, there’s no doubt about that. I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.
Even though the article claims that the PS5 has been sold out completely just a week after launch, the stock shortage during this period somewhat confirms that the PS5 is still in the same trend, and new units will take a while to produce and scatter across the globe.
It’s definitely been rough launching a console amidst a pandemic, as Jim Ryan concluded that he wouldn’t recommend another one occurring within the same fashion.
