It seems that Sony might be planning the inclusion of a brand new subscription service. In a recent talk with a Russian media outlet TASS, Jim Ryan has discovered that Sony is preparing a response to Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service. This means that PlayStation users may soon get to experience a brand new subscription service that will offer a wide variety of PlayStation games for just a monthly fee.
This is probably the only missing feature in Sony’s rows that’s been accounted for by its opposition, Xbox, even though the same PlayStation persona stated that a subscription branch similar to the Xbox Game Pass would hurt the developers, and that it doesn’t make any sense for PlayStation to adopt a similar subscription method.
Nevertheless, the tables have turned, and Sony is seemingly looking for a way to respond to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription scheme. If such a subscription succeeds, then players would probably get a packed list of games both from first and third-party developers, which in contrast, sounds very pleasing.
In response to the question “How will you respond to Microsoft’s Game Pass?” – Jim responded the following:
There is actually news to come, but just not today. We have PlayStation Now which is our subscription service, and that is available in a number of markets.
