THE FINALS Update 12.2.0 Boosts Medium Weapons Against Lights

The FCAR hits harder at a slower rate, while the AKM gains ammunition and a DreamHack Stockholm cosplay showcase joins the update.

THE FINALS Update 12.2.0 strengthens the Medium weapon lineup for duels against 175 HP Lights, adjusting the AKM, Chimera-XB, and FCAR. The FCAR deals more damage but fires more slowly and carries fewer rounds, moving toward a harder-hitting role beside the AKM.

The AKM gains 2 rounds, while the Chimera-XB gets a small damage increase and fires faster. In the Update 12.2.0 announcement, Embark says the aim is to give Mediums better odds against 175 HP Lights and more viable tracking-aim choices, rather than broadly weakening Light weapons. The studio says Light still trails slightly across many skill tiers and modes. Heavy’s defensive tools helped it cope with its HP reduction in Update 12.0, and Embark believes the class can handle these Medium buffs as well.

Embark says the weapon adjustments do not require a client patch because they need no new code or content such as audio, animations, or visual effects. Another small round of supporting balance changes will arrive in Update 12.3, but the studio chose not to hold these changes for that release.

The Grand Major 2026 will take place at DreamHack Stockholm from Nov. 27 to 29, where the event will also host THE FINALS Cosplay Showcase. Contestants can bring their costumes on stage for the sponsors and audience. Impressing the sponsors could win them merchandise, and every participant will receive a participation Diploma and Multibucks. Cosplay showcase sign-up details are available online.
