Battlefield 6 Server Browser Will Begin Reaching Players After Nov. 10

A limited live-game test will precede global access, with the pace tied to server performance and any fixes.

Battlefield 6’s Server Browser will begin reaching a limited group shortly after Season 5 Phase 2 launches on November 10, 2026. Battlefield Studios moved the feature up from its planned Phase 3 timing, outlining a staged rollout in its Steam community update.

The first stage will put the browser in the live game for a limited number of players so the team can check server loads, queues, and matchmaking backfill. The team aims to move through both stages over a couple of weeks, but worldwide access depends on live results and any fixes needed along the way. A July roadmap had placed the feature in Battlefield Labs before its planned Season 5 release.

The Official tab brings servers into one place

Players will find the Server Browser in the Quickplay row, with more entry points in menus including Portal. Opening it leads to the Official tab, which combines dedicated Battlefield Studios servers with persistent servers hosted by players using official game templates. Map and mode filters will help narrow the options, while listings can be sorted by ping, player count, server name, or recommendation.

Official servers share a pool with Quickplay, Multiplayer, and Custom Search, so matchmaking can help fill browser servers too. Official-tab matches award full XP, weapon mastery, and challenge progression. Joining through the browser also keeps a squad on the same server across rounds, including on single-map or 24/7 rotations.

Quickplay and Multiplayer use that same pool, but players entering through those menus will be queued again after a match if a server repeats the same map and mode. Custom Search prioritizes the player’s chosen maps and modes, moving them to a different server if the next round does not fit those filters.

Player-hosted servers can stay online without their host

Player-hosted servers run on dedicated instances, so the host can leave without ending other players’ matches. They remain visible in the browser while empty, but matchmaking will not fill one until at least one player joins. Once seeded, the server can receive backfill when its mode is active in the Quickplay or Multiplayer menus. Modes that are not currently available there rely on players finding the server directly. If a mode later returns to the active menus, matchmaking backfill can resume without the host setting up another server.

A player-hosted server can remain listed for up to seven consecutive days without anyone joining. Each visit resets that timer, and the host can choose to shut the instance down at the end of a round or when starting another server.

Portal experiences keep their own progression rules

Verified and Custom Portal experiences will have separate browser tabs. Verified experiences use preset rules with custom settings, allow player and bot fill, and provide full XP progression. Custom servers support more heavily modified rules and logic scripts, with direct browser joins or community invites and partial XP progression. Existing Portal tools, rule modifiers, and admin controls will stay unchanged.
