Curse of Resthaven Tips for Getting More From Every Loop

Ambrose keeps what he learns across resets, while the journal, town map, trading system, and expeditions can all point toward new clues.

Treat every conversation in Curse of Resthaven as a lead you may need to revisit. Residents can respond differently after Ambrose learns a new fact, brings up another topic, or reaches a different point in the loop. The journal can flag when someone is ready to talk again, a tip from Hilltop Studios game director Scott Christian’s Xbox Wire guide.

Ambrose arrives as Resthaven’s newly appointed governor while searching for his missing niece, Amalia. The island is destroyed six days into his tenure, sending him back to his arrival with his knowledge and progression intact. The story branches across 3 timelines, and reaching all 3 conclusions unlocks a fourth, true ending, so there is no need to uncover every secret in one loop.

Turn new information into better questions

Questioning residents can reveal clues, advance quests, and add topics to bring to other characters. If a conversation stalls, return after learning something new or check whether another resident can point you toward the next lead. The game’s clue strength also rises behind the scenes: bronze clues offer nudges, silver clues narrow the search, and the rare gold clues spell out a lead’s next step. Those tier names do not appear in the game.

Ambrose selects a topic to ask a resident in Curse of Resthaven.

Use the town map to check which characters are accessible in each zone at a given time. After you speak with a named character, their question mark becomes a portrait, making them easier to find on later loops. An unexplored question mark can point you toward someone you have not met yet.

Balance town business with wilderness trips

Trading and town management feed the investigation rather than sitting apart from it. Merchant ships bring goods to buy and sell, and upgrading businesses lets them produce useful resources. Money helps, but having the right supplies can open opportunities elsewhere, including expeditions beyond the town walls.

The trading interface shows a card for furs being sold.

Expeditions use a card-based narrative system, and their encounters come from a pool rather than following a fixed sequence. A return trip can bring different events and discoveries, while information or resources gathered in the wilderness can help with goals back in town. Keep some time for wandering through Resthaven, too. Fast travel makes it easy to move between places, but taking the long way can reveal optional discoveries such as moth relics.

Let the journal point to the next step

Check active leads when progress slows. After the opening hours, the journal adds a timeline showing important events across the six-day loop and where they happen. An undiscovered event marked with “???” may require Ambrose to be in the right place at the right time. If town leads run dry, the journal may point you back to an expedition and Amalia’s campsites.

Once you complete a timeline, New Game+ lets Ambrose fast-track content he has already experienced, leaving more room to follow what changes. Which lead would you pursue first on a fresh loop, a new conversation, a town business, or an expedition?
