Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Reaches 15 Million Players and Previews 6 Patch 16 Weapons
The October update also gives the Victrix Honour Guard Storm Shield a Requisition Points path in Patch 17 after players objected to its purchase-required Twitch campaign.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has reached 15 million players, and its October community update previews six Heroic weapons planned for Patch 16. The team says it is focused on Patch 16 and later content, making this update lighter on broader feature details.
The Year 3 roadmap places Patch 16 in December 2026 and Patch 17 in February 2027. Both are still upcoming, and the new weapon details offer a closer look at the December update.
Patch 16’s 6 Heroic weapons
The Omnissian Axe will build and maintain a large shock zone while its attack is held. The Las Fusil will not need charging and will gradually regenerate ammunition. For other ranged options, the Heavy Bolt Pistol will fire faster from the hip and deal more damage at close range, while rhythmic single shots will gradually increase the Bolt Rifle’s damage. The Plasma Incinerator will deal more damage when overheated, and the Infernus Heavy Bolter will have an underbarrel flamethrower.
Hotfixes 15.1 and 15.2 have already been deployed. They increased damage, sped up charge times, and improved movesets for the One-Handed Thunder Hammer and Power Maul, while Melta Rifles received changes to damage falloff and increased base ammunition and magazine capacity. Chaos Siege received balance changes and fixes, Crucible had multiple bugs addressed, and other repairs covered knockback invulnerability, out-of-bounds item spawns, and cloth and robe colors. The Hotfix 15.1 notes and Hotfix 15.2 notes have the full details.
The Storm Shield returns through Requisition Points
The Victrix Honour Guard Storm Shield will be available in the Refinement & Redemption shop when Patch 17 launches, purchasable with Requisition Points. The team acknowledged player discontent after the previous campaign made the shield available through Twitch’s Support A Streamer feature, which required a purchase.
Community feedback also brought several plans into view. The team is planning level locks for endgame activities such as Hard Stratagems and Hard Siege, but a mandatory Team Perk is not planned. Crucible progression will remain class-based for now, with progression speed and Penance balance open to adjustment after more data. Deathwatch backpacks and devices for Tactical are planned, and more Sniper hood options are in development.
Two community events have November deadlines
The Chaos Siege community event runs through November 3. Survive 15 waves in total to earn 100 Accolades, with progress allowed across multiple sessions and any difficulty setting.
The Halloween screenshot contest accepts entries through November 1. Two winners will be selected on November 2, and each will receive a Steam key for the Year 3 Pass. Entries can go through the contest Discord channel or Focus’s X post.
