Hearts of Iron IV 1.19.4 Details New Automation and Combat Changes

The update adds trading and diplomatic automation, a repair queue, saved fleet compositions, and selected Summer Edition Open Beta balance changes.

Hearts of Iron IV’s 1.19.4 patch pairs a broad set of quality-of-life additions with combat balancing, gameplay changes, and a long list of fixes. Players can automate resource imports and diplomatic responses, prioritize repairs, queue intelligence agency upgrades, and save fleet compositions for later in a session. Paradox had previously outlined plans for a separate quality-of-life update before the next Expansion Pass, but had not detailed the features.

Paradox says the update will also include selected changes from the Summer Edition Open Beta, including adjustments to doctrines and other parts of combat simulation. The Steam announcement frames the work as a response to community feedback and says the studio wants to continue iterating on quality-of-life features.

A video overview accompanies the detailed notes.
