Avi Lewis Calls for Federal Support So BioWare Staff Can Buy the Studio
Lewis says BioWare's developers should get the first opportunity to take over the Edmonton studio.

Avi Lewis wants BioWare developers to get the first chance to buy and run the Edmonton studio, with federal backing. The New Democratic Party leader made the appeal after BioWare announced on Oct. 21 that it would close and end early development on the next Mass Effect, as detailed in the studio’s closure announcement.
Lewis says the developers know how to operate the studio and make its games. He also criticized private equity, arguing that it buys businesses, runs them down, and breaks them apart for short-term profit.

For now, the proposal remains a public appeal, not a formal government proposal or a completed buyout.
