Apex Legends Ranked Will Add Legend Bans in Season 31 and New Leagues in Season 32
Season 31 begins in November, while the league split and scoring overhaul are planned for early 2027.

Apex Legends Ranked is heading for two seasons of major changes. Season 31 will bring Legend bans to Diamond-and-higher matches and adjust entry costs in uneven lobbies. Season 32, planned for early 2027, will split Ranked into Open and Pro-Am leagues and overhaul scoring. Respawn detailed the plans in its Ranked roadmap on Steam.
Legend bans are the clearest change coming in November. In Diamond-and-higher matches, each player will choose one Legend as a possible ban. Once voting ends, the game will show each Legend’s ban chance based on the number of votes, then randomly select Legends for removal. That weighted approach means the most-voted pick is not automatically guaranteed to be banned. The feature will run alongside Drop Zone deployment in those matches.
The planned timing also settles earlier uncertainty about Legend bans arriving after Season 30. Respawn now says they will come in Season 31.
Season 31 changes entry costs and Ranked access
Season 31 will also adjust entry costs when a Ranked lobby contains squads far apart in rank. The game will show a Lobby Tier, based on the median rank of the squads. Teams at least two Rank Tiers below that level will enter a Challenger match and pay less to enter. Teams at least two tiers above it will face a Goliath match with a higher entry cost.
Ranked access will return to an Account Level 20 requirement, replacing Road to Ranked Challenges. Respawn will also make Demotion Protection easier to see. When a player risks dropping a tier after one match, the feature provides three Demotion Shields. Each shield prevents a demotion that would otherwise happen, and protection ends once the player climbs out of danger or uses all three.
Season 32 separates Open and Pro-Am Ranked
The next season will reshape the rank ladder around two leagues. Open League will serve players climbing toward higher ranks, while Pro-Am League will cover Diamond, Masters, and Grandmasters. Emerald will sit between Platinum and Diamond as the dividing line between the leagues, with four divisions. Rookie will be replaced by Iron, and Grandmaster will become the top rank. Players will need to finish in the top 750 of Grandmaster to earn a Predator badge.
Open League matches will start from the Dropship. Pro-Am matches will use Drop Zone deployment and Legend bans. Respawn also plans different scoring emphasis for each league, with kills weighted a little more in Open and placement counting more in Pro-Am.
Across both leagues, Season 32 will give kills and placement fixed RP values rather than scaling kill points with final placement. Every kill earned by a team will grant full kill RP to its players, regardless of individual contribution. Assists and participations will be removed. Entry costs will also rise by division instead of jumping at each rank tier.
Ranked rewards will get a refresh, too. Respawn previewed seasonal Auras and new ways to use them, a review of Ranked Dive Trails, Epic and Legendary Apex Packs, and rewards when players get promoted rather than only at season’s end. Weekly Ladders will end with Season 32 as Respawn reworks its limited-time competitions, with more information planned for next year.
