Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Dual Fusion expansion introduces the game’s first dual-type cards, including Psychic- and Fighting-type Mega Mewtwo X ex and Water- and Darkness-type Mega Greninja ex. The C1 set is scheduled for Oct. 29 and will arrive in two booster packs themed around Mega Mewtwo X and Pikachu.
The trailer also shows Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Mew, Mega Dragonite, Mega Greninja, and Mega Lucario. Mega Mewtwo X, Pikachu, Mew, Mega Dragonite, and Mega Greninja will appear as ex cards.
Mega Mewtwo X ex brings two types to one card
Mega Mewtwo X ex uses Psychic Energy and is weak to Dark. Its attacks can deal 20 extra damage to Pokémon weak to either Psychic or Fighting, including Fighting- and Metal-type Pokémon.
Trainer effects that apply to either of its types can support the card. Korrina and Arena of Antiquity boost its damage, Peculiar Plaza can reduce its retreat cost by 2, and Gardevoir can provide Energy. With Korrina, Arena of Antiquity, and its own attack mechanics in play, Mega Mewtwo X ex can reach 190 damage.
Pikachu missions began on Oct. 20 at 6:00 AM PDT, offering special packs featuring Pikachu. The Pikachu mission reward track runs for a year and includes a special Pikachu ex card on its tenth login day.
Six Dual Fusion rental decks are available from Oct. 28 through Dec. 15. The official event schedule also lists activities running into January:
