Helldivers 2 Will Replace GameGuard With Easy Anti-Cheat on October 20
Some cosmetic mods may need updates from their creators, while Steam Deck and Linux compatibility will remain unchanged.

Helldivers 2 is scheduled to replace GameGuard with Easy Anti-Cheat on October 20, alongside added security measures aimed at recently circulating cheat mods. In its Steam announcement, Arrowhead said GameGuard had not protected the game as well as it wanted and described Easy Anti-Cheat as a better way to protect fair play and the Galactic War. The developer says the system is used in more than 200 games.
Arrowhead says cheating has affected other players’ battles and pick-up rates, and has even been used to manipulate the Galactic War. Mods that affect other players may stop working after the change. The studio appreciates cosmetic and other non-gameplay mods, but some may need updates from their creators to keep functioning.
The anti-cheat change will not alter hardware requirements, and Steam Deck and Linux compatibility will remain unchanged. Arrowhead also says it cannot determine which mods are safe, leaving their use to players’ discretion. Anyone whose non-destructive mod or other software is blocked can contact Arrowhead support.
