Aurora Finish Third in Katowice With a 98.8% Major Stage 3 Invite Chance

woxic said the win over Spirit brought VRS points and confidence after Aurora's 1-2 semifinal loss to Vitality.

Aurora took third place in Katowice with a 2-0 win over Spirit, adding valuable VRS points after its 1-2 semifinal loss to Vitality. The bronze-match sweep ended 13-9 on Mirage and 13-6 on Anubis. Aurora sat ninth in the live VRS ranking afterward, with a 98.8% chance of receiving a Stage 3 invite to the Major.

Mirage, Spirit’s map pick, began with Aurora ahead 6-1 after taking the pistol and several gun rounds. Spirit chipped away with low-buy wins to reach five rounds by halftime, but Aurora started the second half strongly and held off resistance from tN1R and sh1ro to close the map. Anubis was less competitive. Aurora won more of the mid-rounds and got greater impact from its individual players, leaving Spirit unable to build a foothold before the 13-6 finish.

The decider also produced several individual highlights, including Wicadia’s Dualies ace, a mid-round win for Aurora despite sh1ro’s MP9 spray, and donk’s four-kill attempt to get Spirit back into the series.

For woxic, the placement match was difficult to face the morning after the semifinal defeat. He dislikes third-place deciders because they keep a team at the event for another day, but said the medal and ranking points still reward the work that went into the tournament.

The win over Spirit also gave Aurora another confidence boost against a strong opponent. Woxic said the team has become more comfortable playing top sides, even when close losses come down to small mistakes, and that wins help build belief. He sees the playoff experience and confidence from recent events as useful preparation for the Major. Aurora’s next tournament is in Malta.

Asked whether the international lineup could surpass Aurora’s former all-Turkish roster, woxic said it was possible if the team kept performing at this level, while making clear that there was no guarantee.
