EA SPORTS FC 27 Devs Are Exploring Cross-Server Kickabouts and Winner Stays

EA is also tracking slow menus and Clubs fatigue while testing fixes for several issues in The Grounds.

EA SPORTS FC 27’s The Grounds is seeing plenty of traffic in small-sided football, but that popularity is making it harder to fill some Kickabouts. In an October 2 Steam developer update, EA said players were active in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and In-World Rush, while other activities can struggle to gather enough participants to start. EA SPORTS FC 27 introduced The Grounds on September 25, bringing Kickabouts, small-sided matches, and Clubs into one shared football space as part of the game’s PC launch.

EA is considering ways to fill Kickabouts

The team is looking at several possible ways to connect players with Kickabouts. Those ideas include letting players signal that a particular gameplay site needs more people, matching players across servers without taking them out of The Grounds, and holding scheduled events focused on Kickabouts. EA has not confirmed any of these approaches as an upcoming feature or given them a release date.

Another frequently requested idea is Winner Stays, which would let winning players remain on a pitch and build a streak. Players and streamers are already tracking streaks on their own, and EA says it has begun exploring possible designs to support that competition in The Grounds. No specific design or timing has been announced.

Slow or unresponsive menus are another concern the team is tracking. EA says it is still looking into where menu performance can improve.

Clubs fatigue and live issue status

EA also addressed feedback that infinite stamina could give larger Clubs an advantage over smaller ones. The team reintroduced long-term fatigue in Clubs in Title Update v1.0.1 and said it would monitor how the change feels in practice. The update also increased fatigue’s impact on long-term player stamina in The Grounds 11v11.

EA shared the following status updates for other The Grounds issues:

  • Fix deployed: 5-star skill moves not working in small-sided matches, and high ping in some cross-region Clubs matches.
  • Under investigation: Incorrect Archetype Point costs for certain upgrades, and erratic goalkeeper behavior in 1v1 matches.
  • Fix being tested: Teleport access to Stadium and Clubhouse portals, preferred positions in 11v11 Drop-In, opening the world map while queued, and map input opening the Season Pass.

EA plans to host a Grounds and Clubs Q&A in the Official EA SPORTS FC Discord, but has not announced a date or time. Players can also share feedback through the FC 27 Player Feedback Portal.
