A Pokémon GO trainer reached Best Buddy status with all 18 Vivillon patterns after eight months of work, from March through October. Their routine combined regional friend searches, daily gifts, pinned postcards, and a steady buddy rotation.
At 300 hearts per Best Buddy, the 18-Pokémon goal represents 5,400 hearts of progress, based on the game’s 300-heart Best Buddy requirement.
Finding Scatterbug from every region
The trainer said about half their regional friends came through PokeGenie while hosting raids. They found another group using a Vivillon region map alongside Campfire posts, with two or three more connections coming from Reddit.
Sandstorm and Ocean were the hardest regions for them to cover, so they sent friend requests to people posting from those areas on Campfire. Their process was to open Map, filter for Posts, select a regional post, then search the poster’s username through Profile > Add Friends. Once they had at least one friend from each region, they exchanged gifts daily and pinned every postcard they received.
Building candy and buddy hearts
To build Scatterbug Candy, the trainer pinned postcards and used Pinap Berries when catching Pokémon. They also walked with Scatterbug as their buddy to earn one candy per kilometer and used Rare Candy.
Their daily buddy rotation included at least six Pokémon, with three Scatterbug in the mix. They aimed to give each eight hearts a day: three from treats, one from playing, one from a snapshot, and three from battles.
They waited to evolve each Scatterbug until it had reached Best Buddy status. The trainer said Vivillon took longer to earn the heart from playing, so keeping the Pokémon as Scatterbug made the daily buddy routine quicker.
