The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered Claims 2026’s Top Metacritic Score With a 94
Its current score puts it ahead of Sektori by Metacritic's calculations and above the original game's 92.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered has taken the top spot on Metacritic’s 2026 game chart with a current score of 94. The result follows the first wave of reviews and gives CD Projekt Red’s new version a higher position than the original game’s current score of 92.
Metacritic’s current score page places the remaster ahead of Sektori, which also has a 94 but sits slightly lower by Metacritic’s calculations. Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and Big Walk follow with scores of 91 each.

A 94 is not enough to break into Metacritic’s top 50 games of all time, where every entry currently has at least a 95. The remaster sits in 63rd place, ahead of the 3DS remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Chrono Cross, while remaining just behind Metroid Prime Remastered and Batman: Arkham City.
The ranking arrives as the remaster becomes available on Sept. 29, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Players can buy it as a standalone product or claim it as a free upgrade for existing owners.
Beyond its visual work, the update revises combat and traversal, adds new sound effects for certain powers, rebuilds the skill tree, and introduces transmogrification. Both previous expansions are included as well, giving the remaster a broader scope than a simple graphics pass.
Nintendo Switch 2 players receive touchscreen support for dialogue selection, inventory management, and Gwent. Xbox Series X/S owners also gain Play Anywhere support, which provides access to the PC version at no extra cost when they buy or update the Xbox version.
