Shape of Dreams is now available on Xbox Series X|S as of September 17, bringing its co-op action roguelite runs to console alongside The Starless Path, the game’s biggest update so far. Xbox Game Pass members can play it from day one, and Microsoft confirmed the release in an Xbox Wire announcement.
After its first year on Steam, more than 1.5 million players have entered the game’s changing dream world. The Xbox version includes the content added over that year, along with the new material in The Starless Path.
Build every run around a different Traveler
Shape of Dreams combines fast hack-and-slash combat with strategic build choices. Memories act as abilities, while Essences modify and combine with them, creating more than 200 options to use across different runs.
Travelers also bring their own combat identities. Lacerta fights with firearms, Shell uses a blade, and Nachia commands summoned companions. Builds can focus on freezing enemies, critical strikes, allied summons, or high health, with no single approach covering every situation.

Solo runs and four-player co-op share the Rapids
Solo play supports the full game, while online co-op allows up to four Travelers to enter the Rapids together. Enemies move faster and hit harder with a group, but different abilities can also work together to create combinations that are not possible alone.
Cross-play is available from day one, allowing Xbox players to join friends on other platforms. That gives the co-op side of the launch a much wider pool of potential teammates.

The Starless Path adds Cetus and a new ending
The Starless Path adds Cetus, a ranged Traveler who uses frost to control the battlefield. He can unleash bursts of cold, create massive glaciers, and protect allies. Depending on the build, Cetus can work as a backline mage focused on burst damage or a close-range bruiser.

The update also adds The Way of Stars, which connects each Traveler’s episodes through illustrations, exclusive emotes, and hidden stories. Following that path far enough unlocks a new ending and a final boss stronger than previous encounters.
Six shared Identity Memories let players uncover more secrets of the Rapids while changing a Traveler’s core playstyle. Heroic bosses also gain tougher attack patterns at higher difficulties, giving familiar fights new pressure.
Earlier additions are included at launch
Xbox players receive the improvements added during the game’s first year, including Limbo, an endgame difficulty beyond Nightmare. New shrines and rewards give players more control over their builds, while changes to critical strikes and a broad balance pass expand the number of useful Memories and Essences. Performance and stability work is included as well.
Every Xbox player can claim the Crimson Flash Lacerta costume in game without an additional purchase, including players accessing Shape of Dreams through Xbox Game Pass.
