Football Manager 27 Will Let New Managers Hand Off Club Duties

Ant Farley says players can delegate training, use one-button Tactical Tweaks and give football's unpredictable results time to make sense.

Football Manager 27 will let first-time managers hand off club responsibilities instead of tackling every part of the simulation at once. Sports Interactive senior features manager Ant Farley discussed the approach on the Official Xbox Podcast, including staff delegation and a new feature that will bundle several match instructions behind one touch.

Start with the parts of management you enjoy

Football Manager simulates the manager’s job rather than letting you control players directly. That job includes transfers, training, tactics and club finances, but you do not have to take charge of every department from the start. Farley gave training as an example of work that can go to staff, leaving you free to focus on transfers, tactics and matches. You can take on more responsibilities later, or manage every detail from the beginning.

Give results time to make sense

A good decision does not guarantee a win. Farley noted that football can still produce a loss even when a manager makes the right calls, so one bad result is not proof that your whole approach needs to change. In-game tutorials can help explain the systems, and video creators can offer guidance on specific tasks as questions come up.

Patience is part of learning the series, too. Farley pointed to the longer-term reward of watching a club climb through the divisions or seeing an underdog beat a stronger team in a cup match. Football Manager 26’s move to Unity also brought redesigns intended to make the experience friendlier, he said.

Use Tactical Tweaks when matches get busy

The Tactical Tweaks system will let managers trigger several tactical changes from the touchline with one button, rather than working through multiple menus mid-match. Farley said the feature was developed with input from real-world football professionals. It offers a simpler way to react during a match without removing the option to manage tactics in greater detail.

Choose a version that suits your pace

The PC and console editions share the same core management experience, but they handle pacing and information differently. On PC, players will be able to customize what happens when they press Continue, from moving quickly between matches to following more of the football world beyond their club. The Xbox console edition will be faster-paced and more streamlined, with Pivotal Moments bringing major player decisions forward. PC analysis will lean more on numerical data, while the console edition will present some statistics more visually.

A free five-day Launch Preview for Xbox on PC will begin on October 29, ahead of that version’s November 3 launch. Football Manager 27 Console Edition will launch on Xbox Series X|S on November 10. Both versions will be available through Game Pass.
