Nioh 3 Ver. 2.02 Targets Picture Scroll Rewards and Progression Bugs
The update adds extra special effects to Divine Picture Scrolls, increases Hundred Night Incense rewards, and fixes several Hell Rising progression problems.

Nioh 3 Ver. 2.02 focuses on Hell Rising’s Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls, with new ways to improve Divine-rarity scrolls and more opportunities to earn Hundred Night Incense. Team NINJA details the changes in its Steam patch notes.
After players complete a Divine-rarity Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scroll, revisions can add another special effect, up to a maximum of six. The update also adds completion rewards for recalled enemy bases and Lesser Crucibles cleared again in an Enhanced state, while several fixes address blocked progression, missing enemies, multiplayer problems, and equipment issues.
General changes include hiding the maximum +value of Stones of Penance during Expedition room searches, improving the Scampuss Hat’s hair models, and correcting a range of mission, combat, menu, matchmaking, and play-record problems. The previous Ver. 2.01 fixes addressed several Picture Scroll and Guardian Spirit issues, and Ver. 2.02 continues that cleanup.
Nioh 3 Ver. 2.02 Patch Notes
The largest changes affect Hell Rising’s Picture Scroll progression and Hundred Night Incense economy. General fixes also cover the Dark Roots elevator, Enhanced-state rewards, Versatility damage, item-menu tabs, online room matching, and mission records.
Updates regarding the add-on content Hell Rising (DLC 1)
■ Feature enhancements and adjustments
- Added a feature where revisions will occur after the player completes a Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scroll of Divine rarity. These revisions will add one special effect to the Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scroll (up to a total of six special effects).
- Note: With the addition of this feature, the player will also receive ten sticks of Hundred Night Incense. They can be obtained via Deliveries in the Shrine menu after unlocking Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls.
- Increased the drop rate of Hundred Night Incense.
- Added completion rewards when the player clears recalled enemy bases and Lesser Crucibles again in an Enhanced state, and ensured that Hundred Night Incense will be included in those rewards.
■ Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where using the Martial Arts Rending Charge and Rending Charge Revenge with the Samurai weapon the hoko and shield while Arts Proficiency was active would cause the Martial Arts to last longer than expected under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue making it impossible to transform into Enenra and therefore progress the game if an Acolyte called forth from a Benevolent Grave was the one to defeat Kawara Jurobei in the Myth Stagnant Shogunate.
- Fixed an issue where Crucible Wraiths appearing in the Crucible in Enlightened One’s Journey would not appear in Battle Scrolls after cleansing the Crucible, making it impossible to defeat them.
- Fixed an issue occurring in some Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls where the story progression would not actually lead to the Crucible, even if the terrain effects were listed as the Crucible.
- Fixed an issue where the Dodge Range Up effect for the set bonus Grace of Ame-no-Uzume (for using five items from the set) did not go into effect for some weapons.
- Fixed an issue where returning the Penance Stone of the Wise and then attempting to receive it again would instead give the player the Penance Stone of the Shogun.
- Fixed an issue preventing the ninja hoko and shield the Aggrieved Sword & Shield from becoming forgeable even after giving the blacksmith Smithing Text: Aggrieved Sword & Shield.
- Note: If you gave the blacksmith the Smithing Text already, then applying the update and loading your save data should resolve the issue.
- Fixed an issue causing the description of Matsudaira Nobutsuna’s Fan to be incorrect.
- Fixed an issue causing some of Master Denrinbo Raikei’s lines to be the same as Shishido Kagetoshi’s.
- Fixed an issue where participating in a multiplayer session from a shrine in “1651 CE – Hell Rising” and then finishing your multiplayer session would sometimes cause the player character to fall outside the bounds of the stage, triggering a loading screen and making it impossible to progress.
- Made other minor bug fixes.
