DayZ Badlands Will Add Motorbikes and Bring Back Ragdolls for Crashes
Experimental Update 1.30 will add Many Bikes servers, while the Jana moped and Enduro will offer different speeds without passenger seats.
DayZ Badlands will add two motorbikes and make high-speed crashes far more dramatic. Bohemia Interactive detailed the Jana moped, Enduro dirt bike, new handling systems, and the return of ragdoll physics in its Week 84 Steam announcement.
Ragdolls will be reserved for motorbike crashes. When a rider is thrown from a bike at higher speed, other players will see the character fall into the same synchronized position, while the rider will briefly lose consciousness from their own perspective.
Motorbikes will give Nasdara another way to travel
Motorbikes were not part of the original plan for Badlands, but Nasdara’s enormous size created room for a third travel option between cars and walking. Bikes will also appear on the other maps, although in smaller numbers. Players will be able to test them through the Many Bikes servers arriving with Experimental Update 1.30.
Earlier Week 79 coverage of bike dust effects established how the vehicles will leave trails across suitable surfaces. Week 84 focuses on what it will feel like to ride them, including leaning through turns and steering the front-mounted light in the same direction as the handlebars.
The handling system uses two-wheel simulation and character leaning, with upgraded animations helping the rider and bike move together. Work from DayZ Update 1.28’s car networking improvements provided part of the technical groundwork.
Riders will also be able to walk a bike with the engine off or while it is in neutral. That should help with repositioning a vehicle, including dragging it into shade after a spark plug failure.
Crashes will bring back synchronized ragdolls
Getting ejected will have a much clearer consequence than simply losing control. The ragdoll effect will only trigger during a bike crash, and the shared animation is designed to keep every client seeing the same character position. The rider’s own view will instead transition into a short unconscious state.
Speed will be useful but risky. The Enduro can reach about 130 km/h, while the Jana moped tops out at approximately 70 km/h. Pushing either bike too hard can damage its spark plug, and there is no air control for riders attempting jumps. Nasdara will still include ramps for smaller stunts.
Jana and Enduro fill different roles
The Jana draws from the Jawa 50/05, a Czech moped associated with rural motorcycling. It will come in fixed blue, red, and yellow versions, giving survivors a compact and recognizable choice for ordinary travel.
The Enduro is based on the Jawa 500 682 Bitrak. Its removable parts will support cosmetic customization, with red, yellow, green, and blue base colors. The in-game version uses a 362cc two-stroke single-cylinder motor, long-travel suspension, and 270mm all-terrain tires.
Neither bike will have cargo storage or a passenger seat. Both will carry only the rider, so their value comes from speed and mobility rather than hauling supplies. Survivors will be able to repair them with a blowtorch and replace their tires, while neither model requires a separate battery.
The Enduro’s sound also received special attention. Because the real racing model was difficult to find, the team recorded its engine across a wide range of RPMs along with its exhaust, tires, and other mechanical sounds. The Jana was built to look worn into Nasdara’s world, with dirt, rust, grime, fuel stains, and oil around its engine and tank.
Badlands still has an October launch date
Experimental Update 1.30 will give players a dedicated way to test the bikes, but the Week 84 blog does not include a date for that update. DayZ Badlands is currently scheduled to arrive on October 15, 2026, and Bohemia Interactive continues to describe the expansion as a work in progress. The studio is also asking players to wishlist the expansion while more details, including its animals and music production, are prepared.
