Nintendo’s September presentations delivered new adventures for Metroid and Kirby alongside a packed mix of first-party updates, remasters, and third-party announcements. The September 9 showcase leaned toward Nintendo Switch 2, although original Switch owners still saw several games and updates. Nintendo’s September 9 Direct has now aired after Nintendo announced its date, start time, and Switch 2 focus in Nintendo’s September Direct schedule.
The schedule began with the September 8 Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, which showed gameplay from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake before the broader software presentation arrived.
Metroid and Kirby close out the biggest reveals
Metroid Ravenous received an announcement trailer during the presentation, adding a new entry to Nintendo’s long-running sci-fi series. Nintendo saved another major reveal for the end, with Kirby and the World Beyond confirmed for 2027.

Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, and Fire Emblem lead the third-party announcements
Monster Hunter Wilds will come to Nintendo Switch 2, while Final Fantasy VII: Revelation received a Switch 2 trailer alongside the launch trailer for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave also appeared with a new trailer.

Persona 6 received its own trailer, while Persona 4: Revival was also shown during the partner portion of the presentation.

Nintendo’s returning series receive new content
Nintendo also used the presentation to show more of its established series. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is coming in a Definitive Edition, while Pokémon Pokopia received a look at Expansion Pass Part 2.

Star Fox is getting a Battle Mode free update, and Star Fox Adventures will join Nintendo Classics. The show also included the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Pikmin 4 with Dandori Academy, plus a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Mario Kart World also received a free update, and Kirby Air Riders got a trailer focused on its amiibo support. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort rounded out the first-party updates.

The presentation featured a varied set of new and returning games beyond Nintendo’s own franchises. Meccha Chameleon, Onyx: The Dark Grip, Stage Fright, and Cairn each received trailers, adding several new names to the Switch 2 software lineup.

The remaining trailers covered remasters, collections, role-playing games, and fighting games. Mega Man: Dual Override showed ProtoMan, while Eternal Anima, Danganronpa 2×2, and Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United added more variety to the release lineup.
