Star Fox Adventures will join Nintendo Switch Online’s GameCube collection later on September 9, giving Nintendo Switch 2 players another Star Fox game to enjoy in 2026.
Originally released for the GameCube on September 23, 2002, the adventure was developed by Rare and published by Nintendo. Its arrival follows the recent Star Fox 64 remake on Nintendo Switch 2, adding another older chapter to the franchise’s current lineup.
Star Fox Adventures takes the series in a different direction
Star Fox Adventures is not built around the series’ usual focus on Arwing missions and space combat. Instead, its design leans much closer to a Legend of Zelda-style adventure, with Fox McCloud spending much of the game on the ground and working through a larger fantasy setting.
That difference has made the GameCube release one of the more unusual entries in the franchise. It still carries the Star Fox name and features Fox at the center, but its adventure-first structure gives it a distinct identity compared with games such as Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Assault.
Nintendo has not announced any additional changes for the GameCube collection version in the supplied details. For players who missed Rare’s take on the series or want to revisit it on current hardware, the game will become available through Nintendo Switch Online later on September 9.
